What's the difference between a game server and a dedicated server?
When purchasing a "game server", you purchase a particular game with a particular amount of players. You don't have to do any system administration. You just purchase your game, put in your config and you are ready to game in minutes.

With a dedicated server, you have the freedom to install multiple games on your server. However, GameServers.com provides limited technical support for dedicated servers and administration/installation/modification of the servers is your responsability. For novice users, we recommend using our individual game subscriptions, which come backed by our 24x7 game server support team.
GameServers.com Dedicated Control Panel Features
An optional GameServers.com control panel is available to all dedicated server purchasers. Please note, remote desktop & root access is disabled for control panel enabled servers.

Install, delete, and manage game servers
Install, delete, and manage a large library of game mods
Add individual game admins to start/stop and manage individual game servers on your dedicated server
See historical server health graphs, including CPU, memory, hard drive space, and more

Control Panel Access Restrictions:

Windows Ranked: Remote desktop and FTP is not available - all installs performed via control panel. This package is limited to a maximum of 256 total installed slots for BattleField 3 per dedicated machine.
With Control Panel: If you select to have the control panel installed, remote desktop or root access will be disabled.
Without Control Panel: If you select no control panel, you have full root or remote desktop access to customize and manage your server.

Licensed Software Restrictions on Dedicated Packages:

Ventrilo, BF 2142 and BF 2 Ranked - licenses are not for sale by their respective developers and cannot be hosted on dedicated boxes.
